Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Community Mobiliser will be responsible for facilitating the  mobilisation of adolescent girls, young mothers, families and their communities towards optimum participation in activities set for the Building, Resilience, Inclusion and Dignity for Girls-Ending Child Marriages (BRIDGE -ECM) project.

Accountabilities: 

BRIDGE- Ending child marriage

Effectively manages project resources including the timely utilization of Cluster project funds under the Ending Child Marriage project.

Meet and effectively collaborate with relevant stakeholders for learning and information sharing on child marriage.

Build capacity of the Cluster team to implement child marriage interventions.

Facilitate capacity building of local partners and communities with whom Plan Zimbabwe works for the effective implementation of the “BRIDGE -ECM” program.

Provide support to community and district level committees and structures for the smooth operation of the “BRIDGE-ECM” project.

Generate regular project reports as per donor requirements.

Overall responsible for effective and efficient management of the BRIDGE-ECM project in their respective Cluster.

Reporting in line with the donor contracts and compliance requirements.

Represents Plan at district level stakeholder forums, consultative sessions, or conferences related to child marriage and gender work.

Ensure key stakeholders are kept informed of project activities as appropriate (e.g government authorities etc.).

Community Mobilization and Facilitation

Facilitates selection of adolescent girls meeting the correct selection criteria to benefit for educational subsidies support.

Makes follow up on attendance, retention and completion of girls supported by educational subsidies.

Mobilizes adolescent girls, young women, boys, young men, parents and community structures to participate in project activities.

Engages and liaises with stakeholders to support the project towards achievement of project goals and outcomes.

 Coordination and Networking

Establishes good working relations with project staff, beneficiaries, families, community leadership, project volunteers, Schools, Community-based Organizations (CBOs), government extension staff and other stakeholders at village, ward and district levels.

Participates in stakeholder meetings and networks at village, ward and district levels.

Building relationship activities

Creates community awareness on ending child marriage and development education.

Promotes integration of project and program processes at field level.

Promotes child rights-based programming at field level.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

    Knowledge and Skills

A Degree in Social Work, Development Studies or related discipline from a recognized institute.

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO environment.

Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.

Good communication, facilitation and report writing skills.
