Location: Accra, Ghana

Purpose of Job

The purpose of the VIP Driver position is to provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services to designated officials, ensuring their efficient mobility and support for official meetings and engagements.

Main Functions

Provide timely operational support 

Implement official transportation activities and maintain accurate records, ensuring timely reporting of all Official transport-related operations

Assist in coordinating and following up on logistical arrangements for officials to ensure the smooth execution of meetings, events, and official engagements

Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Assist in the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of transportation records, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.

Specific Responsibilities

Drive official vehicles and ensure the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of officials to and from designated locations

Provide airport pick-up and drop-off services for officials, ensuring punctuality, comfort, and adherence to organizational protocols

Adhere to Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and ensure full compliance with all applicable security requirements and protocols

Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles, including monitoring oil, water, battery, and brake conditions, while maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks and records of official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, and servicing activities.

Comply with all AfCFTA Secretariat policies, procedures, and regulations relating to vehicle management, including the planning, coordination, and efficient utilization of official transportation resources.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance schedules.

Perform other related duties as may be required.

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

A minimum of a high school certificate with a clean, valid driver’s license, and at least three (3) years of working experience as a driver in a registered international organization, national organization, or public service agency;

Experience supporting Official missions or VIP personnel will be considered a strong advantage

Provide transport services for VIP, senior officials, visiting delegations, and diplomatic representatives, in accordance with established security and protocol procedures. 

Valid First Aid, CPR, or emergency response certification is desirable.

Defensive, VIP driving training and/or mechanical training and knowledge of computer office applications (MS Word and Excel, etc.) are an added advantage;

•    Ability to work under minimal supervision,

•    Proactive and can maintain confidentiality at all times. 

•    Integrity, flexible, committed and with ability to work in a multi-cultural work environment. 

•    Good time management, 

•    Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.

•    Proficiency in one of the AU official working languages (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish and Kiswahili) and fluency in another AU language(s) is an added advantage;
