The African Union (AU), in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is implementing the Joint Labour Migration Programme (JLMP) in Africa.
The JLMP is a long-term continental initiative focused on improving labour migration governance for development and integration across Africa. The programme aligns with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strategic focus on intra-African labour migration.
Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Special Liaison Office (SLO) in Addis Ababa and the direct supervision of the JLMP Programme Coordinator at the African Union Commission (AUC), the Programme Support Officer will support the coordination and implementation of programme activities.
The selected candidate will be part of the AUC Programme Support Unit (PSU) and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Programme Support Officer will:
Support coordination and communication among IOM, ILO, GIZ and other stakeholders to ensure activities are implemented according to the approved work plan.
Draft and consolidate narrative reports in line with programme reporting and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) requirements.
Contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, talking points and position papers related to labour migration in Africa.
Assist in organizing Steering Committee meetings and technical committee sessions.
Support programme implementation monitoring against the JLMP logical framework and donor requirements.
Organize and coordinate workshops, trainings and meetings, including preparation of reports and meeting minutes.
Maintain stakeholder networks to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.
Support project evaluations in coordination with the M&E Officer.
Maintain and update the programme calendar and support activity coordination.
Document best practices, lessons learned and knowledge products.
Maintain organized project documentation and records.
Monitor project implementation progress and identify operational bottlenecks.
Analyze implementation reports and document significant developments or deviations.
Facilitate collaboration with regional partners and institutions.
Perform any other assigned duties.
Candidates must possess either:
A Master’s degree in:
Development Economics
Political Science
Business Administration
Project Management
Public Administration/Management
or a related field
with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience;
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Labour migration and programme implementation
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
Project reporting and coordination
Budget formulation and financial management
Partnership development with governments, UN agencies, donors and INGOs
Labour market information systems
Labour and employment policy frameworks

Experience working with AU policy organs and continental labour migration initiatives is highly desirable.
Candidates should possess:
Knowledge of labour migration policies and legal frameworks

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Report writing and technical drafting skills
Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
Proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheets and databases
For this position:
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
Knowledge of another UN language such as:
