The Regional Integration Coordination Office (RDRI) of the African Development Bank produces the Africa Visa Openness Index (AVOI) in partnership with the African Union Commission. The Index assesses the extent to which African countries facilitate travel for citizens of other African countries, ranking all 54 AU Member States according to their visa openness policies. First published in 2016, the AVOI has become an important reference tool supporting policy dialogue on mobility, regional integration, and intra-African trade. The Index tracks visa policy reforms across Africa and provides analysis on mobility trends within the continent.
The consultant will work with RDRI team to support preparation of the 11th Edition of the Africa Visa Openness Index Report. The consultant will also oversee collecting, categorizing and analyzing data on which the index will be based. He/she will research to prepare case studies on experience in managing visa – free regimes and will work with the Webmaster to update the website with the new report and datasets. The consultant will work with the RDRI team to ensure the statistical integrity, consistency, and quality assurance of the report and associated datasets.
