JOB PURPOSE

As a Sell Side Analyst in our Securities business, you will work closely with the team (Trading, Sales, ECM/DCM), to provide Reports and Advisory on the relevant fields.  The role requires a combination of the specific sector and quantitative skills, as well as a deep knowledge of the financial markets, economies, investment climate and institutional environment.  This is also a client advisory role and requires somebody who has experience of actively generating and communicating analysis, views and ideas, with a focus on equity market.

It will provide the incumbent with an outstanding opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of the activities with a common purpose to significantly improve business performances and positioning. This is a key profile role supporting the Securities team with business development initiatives across the business lines.
-    The role requires strong analytical background with ability to perform financial analysis and financial modeling.
-    The incumbent is frequently requested to provide information, assistance and technical support to the ECM/DCM officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Publications and Advisory
-    Review, publish and advise on latest developments in market relevant fields (Equity and bond markets) to assist the Securities businesses, especially on the development of the business and acquiring of new clients
-    Write periodic publications (daily, weekly and monthly) for distribution to clients and prospects
-    Write targeted companies/sectors’ reports
-    Perform companies’ valuation and fundamental analysis
-    Focus on development of innovative ideas to monitor the financial market trend
-    Generate Trade Ideas and work on the development of new products
Client Engagement
-    Development of internal client relationships by working closely with EDC / Ecobank teams
-    Development of a modelling and analytic library (information, data on key sectors, markets and economies) to allow effective analysis
Relationship Management
-    Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with the team at EDC
-    Responsible for maintaining good relationships with colleagues at the affiliates whose support is required
-    Maintain team spirit in working with other members of the Ecobank team to ensure harmony of objectives

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Experience & Qualifications 
-    A professional University graduate with Bachelor/ master’s degree in finance/ economics or related fields of study; proficiency in MS Office especially with Excel skills
-    At least 2/3 years’ prior work experience as a Research/Analyst Specialist with a primary focus on Equity/bond Markets
-    A proven track record in a similar role
-    Self-driven and self-motivated professional with strong work ethics
-    A proven track record of advising market participants and clients on key sector developments
-    Deep knowledge of country’s economies, industries and institutions
-    Strong financial modelling skills
-    Understands transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented.
-    Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals and clients
-    Open and Engaging communication style and inter-personal skills
-    Highly self-motivated, self-starter and able to operate autonomously
-    Relevant Tertiary qualification in Finance or Economics
-    Maturity (strong work ethics)
-    Good team player with the ability to work with colleagues in Ecobank
-    Excellent French (and English will be an advantage) language skills
-    IT skills - Ability in modelling (Excel), and strong knowledge of Bloomberg.
