Maersk Congo RDC SA, an A.P. Moller – Maersk company is currently looking for a self-starting, goal oriented individual to coordinate the Legal and Corporate Affairs Department in DRC.

Key responsibilities
-Researching and advising on local, regional and international law issues and relevant legislation affecting Maersk DRC including but not limited to OHADA.
-Managing litigation portfolio and supervision of external legal counsel and other professional advisers as necessary and managing the associated costs in line with authorization and approval of management.
-Act as legal business partner by providing legal advisory support on corporate and legal issues to country Management, all functions in the country.
-Provision of monthly and quarterly country litigation report to the relevant stakeholders within the Country and Cluster.
-Drafting and reviewing commercial documents and advising on commercial transactions.
-Ensure that contracts with service providers and clients follow the Company’s contracting standards.
-Investigation, handling, documentation and recovery of claims filed against and by Maersk DRC.
-Develop country claims guidelines and ensure best practice sharing within the cluster in terms of service recovery and legal processes.
-Take adequate measures to limit cargo damage/loss within the country.
-Managing and developing the company’s health, safety, security and environmental functions.
-Maintain strong relationships with embassies, local authorities, courts, etc. and develop a strong network of support for Maersk DRC to deal in case of any eventuality.
-Ensure timely visa issuance for all employees going out of the country for business related reasons
-Ensure all expats under an employment contract and their families have a valid work, residence permit and driving license.
-Ensure airport pick up and drop and other relevant protocol related actions for all visitors visiting the company, and ensure that all visitors are aware of safety rules before arriving in DRC.

We are looking for
-Minimum Bachelor degree holder in Law.
-Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, industry experience is an advantage.
