Improving the efficiency of buildings and government operations is central to the just and affordable energy transition in South Africa, since it simultaneously improves energy security, lowers energy bills for consumers and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. To fulfil this objective, the African Development Bank’s (AfDB) Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) will support the Department of Electricity and Energy (DEE) in South Africa with a Technical Assistant (TA) grant to structure and build the capacity of a team to operate as a Super-ESCo within the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI).
