OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
As the only specialized organization with the mandate to support educational policy, planning and management, the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) plays a unique role within the United Nations system. IIEP was established in 1963 as an integral part of UNESCO. It supports ministries of education around the world and other key actors to plan and manage education systems through its programmes of training, technical assistance, policy research and knowledge sharing.
This position is located in the Training and Education Programme (TEP) Unit of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), UNESCO, Paris. Under the overall authority of the Director, IIEP and the supervision of the Team Leader of the TEP, the incumbent will strengthen institute-wide instructional design and pedagogical standards and techniques.
OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
The incumbent will provide expert advice, guidance and assistance to programme specialists who deliver face-to-face educational programmes and programmes delivered through e-learning. More particularly, the incumbent will:
Contribute to the overall management of TEP in collaboration with the Team Leader including support for the scheduling of activities, participation in regular TEP meetings and committees; contribution to the teaching of courses; the supervision and evaluation of ATP Projects, as well as the regular up-dating of the training offer and materials, including course outlines.
Contribute to other research, development and technical co-operation activities where appropriate and agreed with the Team Leader.
Support the review of applications to the Education Sector Planning (ESP) and ATP programmes using the new management information system IIEP Aurion
Manage and monitor the overall organisation and delivery of the Education Sector Planning (ESP) courses on the review of learning materials and teaching modalities.
Support the renovation and/or development of specialised courses and online courses, in collaboration with Course Co-ordinators and the TEP Administrative Focal Point for SCPs and the CVI coordinator.
Ensure that training equipment is regularly up-graded and that training in its use is provided where appropriate.
Identify key training needs and support the continuous professional development of IIEP teaching staff, including the management of consultancy support for learning and assessment and the regular facilitation of Teaching Staff meetings.
Ensure that course evaluation findings feed back into continuous course improvement in collaboration with the Evaluation and Assessment Focal Point and Course co - ordinators.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in education or social sciences.
Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible relevant experience in the field of education or instructional design (ID), of which preferably 2 years acquired at international level.
Skills and competencies
Thorough knowledge of adult learning principles and their application in the professional development context.
Demonstrated expertise in ID, programme evaluation and in applying adult learning principles in the delivery of professional development programmes.
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the design and delivery of face-to-face and/or on-line courses; and their evaluation.
Expertise in organising and facilitating teacher training and/or staff development.
Expertise in education management, policy and/or planning.
Solid understanding of assessment and evaluation procedures in higher education and/or training.
Excellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other.
Experience in managing diverse and multicultural teams and supporting the capacity development needs of staff.
Experience of teaching mature overseas students in an international development context.
Working knowledge of Spanish.
