APM Terminals South Africa currently has a vacancy for a Yard Supervisor within its Port Elizabeth entity located in Coega IDZ.
The Inland Operation is primarily responsible for container storage, movement, repair and container cooling and heating.

Key responsibilities
You will be expected to:
• Collaborate with other staff members to articulate and implement policies, procedures pertaining to longstanding containers
• Ensure that all containers over 90 days have a storyline and are prioritized through the repair cycle
• Ensure that all customer container requirements are met
• Share the customer reporting as per our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Ensure that all evacuations are planned in accordance with customer requirements
• Strive for Wash Bay department to present 250 containers weekly in season
• Drive Health Safety Security & Environment accountability ensuring that staff fully understand their roles and responsibilities in that aspect
• Pre-identify potential issues to the business to ensure contingencies plans are implemented to avoid activity interruptions
• Find synergies with a view to improve productivity
• Monitor operational performance
• Produce daily, weekly and monthly management reports
• Directly investigate to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints
• Participate as an active member of Training & Equity Committee
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
We are looking for
A candidate with the following:
• At least Grade 12 with preferably a tertiary qualification in Logistics
• At least 5years’ experience in logistics or yard industry with 3 years’ Supervisory experience
• Good communication/negotiation skills with assertive attitude
• Proactive approach, problem solver mindset, innovative when needs be
• Ability to perform well under pressure
• Computer literate
