UNOPS East Africa Hub is supporting Word Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Uganda (Central and District) in understanding South Western and Karamoja Regions Road Network and Infrastructure by conducting an assessment: Rural Access to Basic Social Services using Evidence Based Decisions tools for Optimal Investments and Attainment of the SDGs.
In order to provide access to services for host communities or displaced/refugee or marginalized vulnerable populations, it is imperative that a comprehensive knowledge of the existing network, its bottlenecks, its used infrastructure and choke points are analysed and understood in order to provide smart and relevant connectivity solutions and to identify and prioritize development needs and ultimately optimize investments based on evidence. This comprehensive knowledge must be coupled with accessibility to other infrastructure and social services (School, Hospitals, Markets.. etc) to understand the services available to these populations.
