How can you make a difference
The selected consultant will assist UNICEF in the following manner:
Support the planning and implementation of appropriate logistics systems including warehousing and in-country distribution capacity planning, customs clearing, storage, transport and distribution as might be required in implementing the Supply Plan of the Country Office.
Participate in programme planning activities and advise on logistics considerations and provide cost estimates as needed to ensure availability of funds for logistics activities.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date rolling activity plan with projections of planned activities in the upcoming 12 months’ cycle, with more detailed routing and scheduling plans per upcoming quarter. Provide weekly updates on shipments and deliveries and coordinate with government distribution entities and UNICEF zonal offices as needed.
Ensure regular and timely transmission of logistics monitoring information, analysis of results in supply dashboards including follow up actions, and preparation and maintenance of pipeline- and distribution status reports and reporting to logistics focal points in various programmes.
Coordinate the mapping of transport and logistics processes in core projects with shared responsibilities between UNICEF and implementing partners, to ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities and efficiency in logistics operations (i.e., shipment notifications, customs clearance, coordination of transport requests and requests for releases from the warehouse, receipt and dispatch of goods, closure of projects and supplier performance monitoring).
Maintain a log of logistics bottlenecks and coordinate engagement of stakeholders and management to resolve and close issues.
Provide support as needed to any emergency that will be supported by UNICEF.
Provide a final report on the work of UNICEF in supply chain logistics during consultancy period, key recommendations from personal lessons learnt, with detailed handover notes at the end of the project.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Advanced university from a recognized academic institution in one of more of the following areas is preferred: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management, International Economics, Engineering, International Development or areas directly related to logistics operations or UNICEF programme areas. First University degree combined with demonstrated professional work experience and understanding of relevant functions may be considered in lieu of advanced university degree, preferably combined with credited courses or certifications from relevant professional bodies in supply chain management, procurement, contracting or logistics.
